1. What do we need to bring for the baby cake smash photoshoot?
For the baby cake smash photoshoot, we recommend bringing:
* One or two outfits for family photos
* A few outfits for the 1-year part of the session (boys look great in blue jeans paired with suspenders or a tie, while girls can wear ruffled bottoms, leggings, pearls, tutus, onesies, and cute hats)
* One outfit for the cake smash itself
* One outfit for going home in
* Two extra sets of clothes
* Diapers and wipes
* Bottles, formula (if formula-fed), and food
* Blanket and towel
* Socks and shoes
2. What does the mother need to bring for the baby cake smash photoshoot?
Mothers are advised to bring:
* Good attire for family photos, ideally matching colors for a cohesive look
* An extra shirt for wardrobe changes during the session
* Personal grooming items like a hairbrush or comb, powder, and lip gloss
3. What does the father need to bring for the baby cake smash photoshoot?
Fathers should bring:
* Attire for family photos
* An extra shirt for wardrobe changes
4. How do you suggest matching the colors of our clothing?
We recommend color coordinating or color matching outfits for family photos. While it’s not necessary for everyone to wear the same color, it’s nice to have complementary colors with some pops of color here and there. Clients can send us photos of their outfits, and we will provide suggestions accordingly.
5. What is the best time of the day for a photoshoot with our child?
The best time for a photoshoot with a child is when they are active and happy. We can accommodate various schedules and find a time that works best for your child’s energy levels.
6. My child is very active and moving constantly.
How will you handle it during the photoshoot? We specialize in lifestyle photography, capturing beautiful smiles and genuine interactions between parents and children. Our photographers will engage with your child, encouraging natural interactions and capturing authentic moments. We also recommend involving grandparents, who can help create precious family portraits.
7. When should the cake smash photography session be scheduled?
It’s best to schedule the cake smash photography session about a month before your child’s birthday. This allows ample time for planning and ensures that you have the images ready to share or print for the birthday celebration.
8. How do you plan themes & colors?
We have multiple backgrounds available in our studio, and we collaborate with clients to plan themes and colors that align with their preferences. While themes add value to the photos, our primary focus is on capturing your child’s personality and expressions. We may add decorations to grab the child’s attention and create a comfortable environment for them to play in.
9. How do we have to prepare our kids for the photoshoot?
We recommend talking to your child and explaining what will happen during the photoshoot. Offering a small taste of cake beforehand can help them feel more comfortable with the process. Parents are encouraged to engage with their child during the session, helping to capture genuine smiles and expressions.
10. Do you provide cakes?
We do not provide cakes for the photoshoot due to liability reasons. Parents are responsible for supplying the cake, cupcake, or other food item to be used during the session. We recommend simple vanilla or chocolate cakes with buttercream frosting for the best messy and fun pictures. If needed, we can suggest cost-effective places to purchase cakes and ensure that any allergies or dietary restrictions are considered.
